Jane Carter Healthy Hair Collection Review Kingteeuhh

The Jane Carter Solution.

Can we talk about it?

I’ve always heard good, I mean, great things about their products. People rave about them. But me? Until about a month ago, hadn’t tried them. Not one. Single. Product. Fast forward to late 2016 and I end up connecting with the brand, and what do they do? Send me their whole, new, Healthy Hair line to try out. As if that weren’t already enough, they followed the box up with a hand written card. Ya’ll.

Healthy Hair Collection

Healthy Hair Collection

The Healthy Hair collection includes six products developed to “repair and restore dry, curly and damaged hair.” It includes all of the essentials to either maintain or restore healthy hair: detox shampoo, hair masque (deep conditioner), cleansing & conditioning co-wash, leave-in conditioner, frizz free styling smoother, and a replenish and repair oil.

This collection is like the boyfriend you need, not the necessarily the one you think you want.

Renewable Difference Detox Shampoo

Jane Carter Detoxifying Shampoo Kingteeuhh Review

This shampoo is said to be a gentle cleanser that removes build up from product and minerals from hard water. It has a fairly thick and creamy consistency, a fantastic scent, and effectively cleanses the hair without leaving your hair feeling stripped. I found that a little really goes a long way.

Cleansing & Conditioning  Co-Wash

Jane Carter Cleansing & Conditioning Co-wash Kingteeuhh Review

The cleansing & conditioning co-wash is a moisturizing, non-lather formula that is perfect for cleansing various textures and even color-treated hair. It is also pretty thick (but doesn’t leave residue) and also has a great scent.

Revive & Repair Hair Masque

Jane Carter Hair Masque Kingteeuhh Review

The revive & repair hair masque is a deep conditioning treatment meant to restore and repair damaged hair. It can also be used with or without heat and can also be combined with the Complex 4 oil for an even deeper treatment. It seemed like any tangles I had immediately melted away as soon as I put some of this in my hair, and there was insta-curl poppage. I applied the product in sections, detangled, put in chunky twists, applied a shower cap (aka reused a plastic grocery bag), and finally my warm hot head cap for about an hour before rinsing out.

If you know me you know that I am a committed deep conditioning natural. This hair masque detangled my hair like a dream (seriously, that’s one of the worst and most time consuming parts of the wash day process), rejuvenated my curls and left them softer than a new born baby lamb, and had my hair smelling like clean cotton hand washed in Fiji water.

I’m just saying. The ONLY thing I didn’t like about this product is the size, it comes in a 6oz jar, which just doesn’t seem like enough to get more than maybe 3 applications out of it.

Slumber Party Creamy Leave-In Conditioner

Creamy is the perfect way to describe this conditioner. It smells AMAZING, just like all the other products in this collection. It isn’t too light, not too thick, moisturizing, and most importantly doesn’t leave any build up or residue. The one thing I didn’t like about this product, it was the packaging. I know, nerd moment. In case you missed it, I have a bachelors degree in Packaging. It seemed odd for it to be in a spray bottle because of the thicker consistency. I never sprayed in directly into my hair–I sprayed a portion into my hands first, rubbed together, then applied to my hair. Spraying directly into my hair just didn’t seem right. I’m not sure there is a “right” way to use this leave-in (or any other product for that matter), but how the product is used (and its viscosity) are important for selecting the appropriate packaging. But I don’t want to get too technical. I think this product would be better off without a spray nozzle.

This leave-in doesn’t have a ton of slip, but I promise you, if you cleansed (shampoo or co-wash) and conditioned with the products from this line, you won’t be needing slip at all.

Complex 4 Replenish & Repair Oil

Jane Carter Complex 4 Repair & Replenish Oil

This replenish & repair oil  also with sunflower, maracuja, and coconut oils, rounds out this healthy hair collection. A few drops of this stuff goes a long way, but it is light and not greasy. You can even use it in a number of ways; with the hair masque for a deeper deep condition, as a leave in moisture seal, or even as a hot oil treatment. I applied this to my hair as a part of the L.O.C. method, and then right after completing all of my two strand twists applied a bit all over, concentrating on my ends. It definitely gives your hair a great shine and I can see it as a nice refresher throughout the week if needed.

Frizz Free Styling Smoother

Jane Carter Frizz Free Styler Kingteeuhh Review

Last but not least, this styling smoother is packed with sunflower and maracuja oils, and is said to also be a heat protectant (however I did not blow dry or flat iron my hair so I can’t attest to this), that can be applied to your hair at any time, helping to reduce frizz. I will admit, I was a little skeptical of this product after having used the shampoo, hair masque, and leave-in, because frankly, I expected it to be thicker. I wasn’t sure how much moisture it would be able to add or how long it would last.

But chile.

After the oil, I applied this product to my damp hair in sections and did medium sized two strand twists. There was not one strand out of place. My twists were luscious and moisturized. The absolute BEST part is I didn’t have to moisturize my hair all week, at all.

Final Thoughts.

I received these products from the Jane Carter Solution, however this is not a sponsored post (and even if it was, I would still tell the truth). This new line they’ve created is hands down the best complete natural hair collection on the market right now. Now you might be wondering, how could that be when there is no regular conditioner, no edge control, and no gel?

Healthy Hair.

If I had to guess why those products weren’t included it would be because in short, they aren’t needed. There’s no real need for a hair masque and a ‘daily’ conditioner, especially when the hair masque detangles like dream and can be tailored to your needs. What I mean is, if your hair is really in need of some TLC, you can add some of the Complex 4 Replenish & Repair oil to it for an added layer of conditioning, or you can apply heat. It’s scaleable.

In my opinion there’s no edge control because how does edge control promote healthy hair or help us repair damaged hair? Quite frankly some of us need to learn that we don’t all have baby hairs and our edges don’t always have to be laid.

My guess is there is no gel for the same reason.

Like I said earlier, this line is the collection your hair needs, not necessarily the one you want. This of course is assuming you want healthy hair.

Pros

I was impressed with how each product left my hair feeling nourished, moisturized, and they all smell AMAZING. After using the whole line my hair was smelling delicious for days. I also didn’t have to add any product to my hair for at least 5 days, and I probably could have gone a little longer. The ability to tune the products to the needs of your hair is another definite plus.

Cons

There were two very minor things I disliked:

  1. The packaging on the leave-in (spray nozzle adds no functionality)
  2. 6 oz just isn’t enough for the hair masque.

  3. Retaining the healthy hair is always a great task. We always get afraid to try something new unless we hear the positive results from many. Thank you for the products and the effects shared herewith. Keep sharing.

    1. Yes, when it finally clicked for me to focus more on retention than growth I knew I could get better results. Thanks for stopping by

        1. I don’t see why not but I would maybe run it by your pediatrician if you’re unsure. I’d also say it probably depends on the age of the baby.

  4. I truly enjoyed reading your review of the Jane Carter Solution Healthy Hair line.

I have struggled with my hair since I started taking care of it myself in my teen years. Finding products that worked and made it manageable was a nightmare. I permed my hair for most of my adult life (when it wasn’t in braids) and finally went natural in December 2015 after I was bitterly disappointed at how my freshly done hair turned out dull and flat at my daughter’s college graduation. I was tired of killing my hair with heat and chemicals and nothing I did seemed to revive it, so I bit the bullet and went natural. I planned to transition, but my hairdresser forced a big chop on me. She had the right idea, but at the time I didn’t see it that way.

After doing all kinds of research on natural hair care products, methods of maintenance, hair type, hair porosity, etc., I spent a great deal of money trying various brands. I settled on Shea Moisture (the Raw Shea Butter line) and the Jane Carter Solution line, which worked well in combination until Shea Moisture betrayed the natural hair world by changing its hair care formulas to drastic, everlasting, detrimental effect for most of its dedicated and loyal customer base.

I decided to use only Jane Carter Solution hair care products after that and have not been disappointed. The line that I use most is the Jane Carter Solution line (yellow label); almost everything in this line. I also use the Revive & Repair Hair Masque, the Renewable Difference Detox Shampoo and the Complex 4 Replenish & Repair Oil from the Healthy Hair line (silver label). I even tried the Curl Cocktail Conditioning Styling Cream, Untangle Me Weightless Leave-in, Shine On Curl Elixir, Coiling All Curls Elongating Gel and the Mist Me Over Curl Hydrator (pink label) in varying combinations, as well, but didn’t experience the best long-term results with this line. I find that even within the same line, buildup occurs, but I experienced the least amount of buildup and the best results for my hair with the Jane Carter Solution line. I also experienced mixed results if I combined products between the different lines.

But, overall, Jane Carter Solution natural hair care products are my favorite on the market and my hair absolutely loves and responds best to them. Whenever my hair gets damaged, the Jane Carter Solution line of products restores its health quickly. All the lines leave my hair smelling absolutely wonderful and so very, very soft, and my curls pop! I have a lot of white hair (due to premature greying) so I color my hair and the Jane Carter Solution lines don’t leach the color from my hair. The products also absorb quickly.

I just wish that, as you pointed out, the hair masque came in a larger container (although then the price would probably be astronomical). Jane Carter Solution is one of the more expensive brands, but I feel it’s worth every penny and, all things considered, is still reasonably priced. There are far more expensive brands out there that are more popular than this brand. I recommend this brand to everyone who asks me which products I use. I’m surprised that I don’t see it on recommended lists more often.

    1. you said a whollleee word here sis! i’m so glad you found your way and a set of products that you and your hair love!! thank you so much for sharing such a detailed comment…i greatly appreciate it despite being super late 😛
