External Battery Charger

Everyone knows how much it sucks to be out and about with a dead phone but that feeling is magnified when it happens abroad. It’s not only inconvenient but potentially dangerous. I don’t go on a trip without an external battery charger and I can’t count how many times it’s been clutch for me or someone else. They are so important in my opinion that I have two of these chargers from RavPower which have two USB slots and can charge several iphones on one charge. If you’re searching for a travel-related gift, I would highly recommend an external battery charger first if they don’t already have one.

Scratch Off Map

I haven’t come across a traveler yet who doesn’t get a kick out of keeping track of how many continents and countries they’ve visited. Now, this can be done in a million ways, but they have these cool maps where you can keep track of your travels by scratching off the places you’ve been as you go. They can also double as decor, so find one that can fit nicely into their living space.

Passport Cover

I’m definitely one of those people who hate having my passport out bare naked. With the way politics have been going, it’s not always good for people to know what passport you have unless they need to know. Passport covers are a great way to conceal that and hold any other important card or tickets. They are being offered in a lot of fun and unique colors and designs so find one that speaks to your favorite traveler.

Packing Cubes

Packing cubes have been certainly gaining popularity in the last year or so and rightfully so. Have you ever wondered how people are able to pack like two weeks of clothes in a piece of carry-on luggage? Many use packing cubes to optimize packing. I use them almost all of the time not only for making packing simpler and more organized, but they also help when TSA goes through your bag.

There’s a ton of ways you can go with this one depending on the person you’re shopping for. As a blogger, I have several cameras for different purposes. I have a DSLR (Nikon D5500) I use for “official” photos, a point and shoot (Canon Powershot G7 X Mark ii) I use for vlogging and pictures, and a GoPro for water-related and messy events. The Canon G7 X Mark ii has great autofocus, is great in low light settings, and is small enough to put in your pocket or purse when not actively using. I use it a lot on my trips and it can quite honestly serve as an all-purpose camera.

Global Entry

Giving the gift of global entry would be amazing for any traveler you love. You’ll be saving them lots of time and the headache of long lines upon returning to the United States. You can learn more about global entry here.

When traveling internationally there are quite a few places that’ll require converters in order to use electronic devices such as South Africa, Europe, and Austrailia to name a few. Converters are an inexpensive gift you can gift to your favorite traveler and it’s best to gift a couple if you can. If you’re traveling anywhere that a converter is needed, you’ll always need more than one.

Compression Socks

Compressions socks are a great gift idea for travelers who take long flights and/or may have circulation issues. It’s important to make sure you take the proper precautions if you’re going to be about this hardcore traveling life, but we’ll get further into that on another post!

Tripods are great especially for those who vlog (video blog) their trips and experiences because they allow you to stabilize the camera–even if you’re carrying it. Additionally, tripods are great for solo travelers because they make it easier to take pictures by yourself. You can put your camera on the tripod and either use a remote or a self-timer to take ‘gram worthy pictures without any assistance. There are all kinds of tripods; traditional 3-legged, monopods, desktop, and the ones with the flexible legs. I love the flexible tripods for traveling because they are luggage friendly and just overall the most adaptable while out and about.

This may sound trivial but never underestimate the value of a good set of headphones when traveling, especially for long flights. Emphasis on good. What makes them good? Number one to me is they cancel out a good bit of background noise. I also think it’s important that they are sturdy and won’t break or become damaged easily. You can get a great quality set of headphones without spending hundreds of dollars. I bought these Bluetooth headphones off of Amazon a few months ago for the gym but have been loving them for travel because they are Bluetooth, come with a cord so you can use with any device, fold up, have great sound, and I can’t hear much outside with them on.

Photo Books

Photobooks are like the new age scrapbooks or photo albums. I’ve always intended to create some physical books with some of my favorite photos from different trips (ask me if I’ve actually done it). This would be a great way to inspire a friend or family member to get those photos off the computer or hard drive and create a tangible memory book. Companies like Shutterfly, Snapfish, and Blurb are just a few that specialize in creating photo books.
